Welcome to Shen Long T’ai Chi Ch’uan Association-USA Chapter. The mission of Shen Long USA is to promote the study and practice of traditional T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

The USA Chapter of Shen Long T’ai Chi Ch’uan Association is a member of the International Shen Long T’ai Chi Association founded by Master Wu Kuo-chung of Taiwan. There are three established schools in the States: Kenosha, Wisconsin; Northfield, Illinois; and St. Cloud, Florida.

Shen Long T’ai Chi is based on the principles of relaxation, balance, awareness of movement, centering, and development of internal energy, Chi. While T’ai Chi Ch’uan can be a profound system of health and self defense, most people begin their practice of T’ai Chi for the relaxation and feelings of peace and tranquility it instills. To learn the combination of elements in T’ai Chi requires a unity of mind, body, and spirit not found in many other disciplines. T’ai Chi Ch’uan trains our mind and our awareness to help our bodies relax. The slow meditative movement of T’ai Chi helps improve balance and flexibility, while developing and balancing our Chi.

What is Tai Chi

T’ai Chi Ch’uan, translated as Grand Ultimate Fist, is a slow moving, mind/body exercise, an “internal energy” exercise. T’ai Chi focuses on cultivating, nurturing, and balancing “Chi”, the energy that moves through the body, and on relaxing the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and the mind on a deep level, for this reason it is sometimes called “meditation in motion.”

While T’ai Chi Ch’uan can be a profound system of health and self defense, most people practice T’ai Chi for the relaxation and feelings of tranquility it instills. T’ai Chi Ch’uan can benefit everyone from those who have been sedentary to those who are athletes. In our T’ai Chi Ch’uan classes we train our minds, our awareness, to help our bodies relax. The slow meditative movement of T’ai Chi helps improve balance and flexibility, while developing and balancing our internal energy, our “chi.”
